Seminole County Project Homeless Connect 2009
March 20, 2009
This annual event was organized by Homeless Services Network of Central Florida and hosted by Northland Church at Longwood, FL.
Project Homeless Connect helped hundreds of individuals in need, by assigning “shepherds” to each guest and guiding them through all the available services represented at the event.
Many nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups, government agencies and businesses participated in this effort.
Medical care, haircuts, employment opportunities, substance abuse and mental health counseling, assistance with benefits, ID cards, legal issues, housing information, vision screening, hygiene kits, meals, and spiritual care were all available to meet their basic needs.
Once again, Harvest Time International was honored to be part of this great outreach to the less fortunate and donated towels, blankets and pillows to the homeless families. Harvest Time International was also represented with a booth, informing the public about our food and household programs available for families in need.
Unfortunately, there are also many children in Central Florida that are experiencing homelessness; living in the woods, a car or a motel with their parents. Harvest Time International also informed parents about Florida KidCare, a free/low cost health insurance for children.
